Hi! I'm Stephanie.
I approach therapy by tailoring the work according to the individual I am working with. I want to help everyone be their own best self-expert. If you'd like a therapist that responds tactfully but genuinely and who listens actively, I'm your pick. My job is to bring the space and structure where you can safely unpack your life for a little bit and get some support in sorting through it all. My job is to help you feel validated where you are and encouraged in where you want to go.
I am a collaborative therapist and generally appreciate mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and solutions-focused approaches. If you don't know what any of that means, that's ok! During our first few talks, we'll go over what you're looking for and the goals you'd like to accomplish. Therapy is your time to do what you need to do. If I have ideas to share, I'll let you know exactly why I think they might help so you can decide for yourself.
I am a multicultural, female-identifying person living in Houston, Texas. I've called different states and countries home, but I love finding ways to carry a sense of belongingness with me. I seek to respect every person's identity and their expressions of gender, sex, religion, spirituality, disability, and all the factors that make them who they are.
I work in the Post Oak area of Houston. My office provides both a comfortable couch space and space for play therapy, which is available to both kids and adults. I also work with clients online through video sessions and through phone call sessions.
My Education and Credentials
I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#203121). I completed my PsyD in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. I earned my MA in Psychology with concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Southern University, and my BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. I have experience with complex life crises and trauma through various training including my Masters practicum at Covenant House St. Louis, a shelter for homeless and at-risk youth ages 16-22. I've also worked with children and adults of all ages.
I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. On a local level, I am a member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists, Houston Group Psychotherapy Society, and I served as the 2019 and 2020 Communications Director for the Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
