Hi! I'm Stephanie.

I approach therapy by tailoring the work according to the individual I am working with. I want to help everyone be their own best self-expert. If you'd like a therapist that responds tactfully but genuinely and who listens actively, I'm your pick. My job is to bring the space and structure where you can safely unpack your life for a little bit and get some support in sorting through it all. My job is to help you feel validated where you are and encouraged in where you want to go.

I am a collaborative therapist and generally appreciate mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and solutions-focused approaches. If you don't know what any of that means, that's ok! During our first few talks, we'll go over what you're looking for and the goals you'd like to accomplish. Therapy is your time to do what you need to do. If I have ideas to share, I'll let you know exactly why I think they might help so you can decide for yourself.

I am a multicultural, female-identifying person living in Houston, Texas. I've called different states and countries home, but I love finding ways to carry a sense of belongingness with me. I seek to respect every person's identity and their expressions of gender, sex, religion, spirituality, disability, and all the factors that make them who they are.

Practice Locations

I work in two locations: NW Houston towards Tomball and centrally in the Upper Kirby area. I also work with clients online through video sessions and through phone call sessions. I am part of JEM Wellness & Counseling, a wonderful growing center that aspires toward holistic mind and body health.

My Education and Credentials

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (#203121) practicing under supervisor Dr. Thelma Jean Goodrich (#4873). I am currently pursuing a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and anticipate completion in late 2019. I earned my MA in Psychology with concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Southern University, and my BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. I have experience with complex life crises and trauma through various training including my Masters practicum at Covenant House St. Louis, a shelter for homeless and at-risk youth ages 16-22. I've also worked with children and adults of all ages.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. On a local level, I am a member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists, Houston Group Psychotherapy Society, and I serve as the 2019 Communications Director for the Houston Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
